On Thursday I was lucky enough to travel to London to the Surface Design show at the business center. Now in its ninth year the exhibition brings together the industry of surface design to discuss and learn about processes, treatments and materials. It was an insightful experience into the products available and the marketing of such new innovations. Amongst the designer’s showcasing their work was Anthony Hughes, who had a great vision of screen- printing onto wood. The industrial sketch- book, which was beautiful in its own right, has inspired Hughes love of 3D work, surfaces and print.

Another designer that held my interest was Helen Dunkow another Postgraduate who developed the most interesting elastic band work. It just goes to show that with basic material and a little imagination anything is possible.
