New beginning's

I have found it hard writing any new blog posts since finishing my second year of my B.A Hon's degree.
Many things had changed towards my last year and i was lost as to where my studies were taking me. I have always been extremely passionate about the arts in every format but i have never really had a talent in one particular area. Sewing came the easiest to me, so i automatically thought surface design would be my best area. However, after two years of guidance, encouragement and a new way of seeing Art in all its glory my passions have changed. My approach to the way i view images, designs and subject's have significantly altered and this became very apparent to me in my last semester. Gone had my love of repeat patterns and fabric techniques and i started to feel like i  had exhausted any enthusiasm for the subject. All the training and techniques i had received had been fantastic and have helped me understand materials and there applications but in a design sense i had run dry and was totally lost. Luckily for me the support network from my lectures and fellow students have guided me into a new direction. Through some of  the exercises set in briefs i have been able to establish at least a direction into my interests and design processes. Come september i be will joining the illustration pathway and although drawing hasn't always been my strongest area, the encouragement i have received from the illustration department has helped me to see another way of designing, thinking, applying and translating my work. This with my surface design knowledge i hope to start a new variety of style to my work.  I will start a new term with blogging some of my interests and new workings and see where it takes me.
