I am a Art and design student currently studying in Manchester. I am an avid crafter and photographer, and harbour a huge addiction to my sewing machine. This blog is to help me collate my findings and inspire further pieces of work, as well as feeding my passion's.
Chanel's designs for the up- coming season provides an abundance of floral bloom's incorporated into their gothic creations. They have produced a dark, sensual collection that have implied a mix of era's using only the colour, scale and composition of the bloom's. This is a classic collection that is full of energy with a touch of darkness.
Clothkits designs hold a nostalgic sentiment for me. There patterns remind me of my youth and my fascination with construction, colour and pattern. When i am stuck for inspiration, i take a look through the clothkits archives and remember how their designs made me feel and the visual effect they had on me.
The designs produced for the Marimekko company are always full of vibrancy and instilled freshness. Their selected designs could be easily applied to a variation of surface's and have a timeless/ageless quality to them.
Frank Stella's Abstract painting's - its easy to see how many surface designer's are influenced by his work. His depictions of buildings that he visited on his personal travel's are beautifully designed. His use of coloured blocks, structured designs and wide range of materials, have made him an exciting artist to study and explore.
I shall be studying geometric and floral prints when i return to study in the fall. Missoni's designs have been a favourite of mine since my youth and have never failed to excite me with their confident use of colour, shape and form. Their palettes are always compatible with their design structure and each of their collection's easily flow through the fast changing trends.
